a bit about me

I've grown up in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, which means I've always been a huge Carolina fan and a Tar Heel my whole life. When I was little, I always dreamed of going to college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and that's exactly what I got to do. I graduated from UNC in May 2024 with a major in Media and Journalism, specifically Advertising and Public Relations, and a minor in Studio Art. I also worked as a Marketing Supervisor for UNC Campus Recreation for 2 and a half years, and I absolutely loved everything I got to do, all the skills I learned, and everyone I met because of it.

I always hoped to continue doing art in college in some way, so the decision to minor in Studio Art was an easy one. My major, however, was a bit more tricky. It took me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted to do, but after some exploration, I found Ad PR and it was a great fit. I now hope to work on the creative side of advertising, ideally doing graphic design or social media.

Outside of school and work, I love doing art, watching movies, tv, and Carolina Basketball, hanging out with my friends, and cooking. My favorite show is New Girl and my favorite thing to cook is definitely pasta, although I love baking pretty much anything as well. I enjoy traveling and exploring new places, and I have a huge list of spots around the world that I want to see someday.

While I love adventuring and traveling, one of my favorite places in the world is my bed. It's covered in soft blankets and stuffed animals that are special to me, and I have pink satin pillowcases, purple flowery sheets, and fun pillows. I think that this is really representative of my personality, because I have always been a big introvert. I love when I get to come home at the end of my day, shower, make dinner, and then sit in my bed by myself to re-charge and wind down.

I love being alone, but I cherish spending time with the people I love the most even more. Those people are the most important thing in the world to me, and I wouldn't be anywhere close to where I am today without them.

graphic design, advertising, & journalism

My entire life I have loved being creative. Over the years, that has looked different as my interests and hobbies evolved. I’ve always loved art, but once it came time to find a field that I was interested in building a career in, I wanted to find something that would provide me with more opportunities. However, I wanted to make sure I still got to create and do what I was most passionate about.

After some exploration, I found that advertising was the perfect area for me. I get to be creative and artistic, but I also learn and get to use so many other skills like writing and interacting with people. Then, it all comes together to create the perfect story, because advertising is really all about storytelling.

I love the whole process of finding the perfect way to tell the story you need to tell, and then telling it the best way you know how. For me, that means getting to use my creativity and getting to do what I’m most passionate about and brings me the most joy, which is what I always hoped I would do with my life.

visual art

Like I said, I have loved art my entire life, and I plan to always continue working on my art and trying to become better every day.

My visual art tends to lean towards two ends of a spectrum. Sometimes my pieces are carefully thought out and planned, made with extreme focusing on details and technique, and illustrating something meaningful to me. Other times, they are completely abstract with no deeper message, and made simply because it was something fun that I felt like making that day.

No matter which extreme a piece falls towards, I've always believed that the process of making art is just as important as the final product. I make art because it helps me escape whatever may be going on in my life or in the world around me, and because it brings me joy. In the end, that's really all that matters.
